Nov 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Karina Smirnoff might not have won the “mirror ball” trophy in “Dancing with the Stars” but she has definitely won the heart of St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Brad Penny. A reputed media source reported that the professional ballroom dancer is engaged to his longtime boyfriend Brad Penny. Karina Smirnoff said that they felt their relation under wraps because her family is in New York and Brad Penny’s home is in Oklahoma and hence they wanted to tell their family first and then announce it to the media.
A reputed media source reported that Karina Smirnoff excitedly showed her 4.5 carat diamond engagement ring at a party in Las Vegas over this weekend. The stunning ballroom dancer previously dated her “Dancing with the Stars” co-star Maksim “Maks” Chmerkovskiy but they parted their ways on 2009 after dating nine months. The media outlets reported that Karina Smirnoff met Brad Penny through their mutual friend Chuck Liddell (UFC fighter) and they began dating from October 2009.
Karina Smirnoff reportedly told that her beau proposed her in the week three of “Dancing with the Stars” when she performed with her celebrity partner Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. She recollected the incident and said that she had a crazy hair and she was concerned to look like a “Bride of Frankenstein” for her dance. However, she said that though she was not in her best attire, Brad Penny got down on his knees and proposed her with a “ring”. She said that at first the whole thing did not register in her mind as it was least expected. However, she seemed excited when she said that she is happy and Brad Penny is the “sole” reason for that.
