If anyone asked you who was the 1920 Republican candidate for President of the United States, more than likely not you know the answer. If you were watching Sunday night’s latest edition of Boardwalk Empire on HBO you would know that the answer is Warren G. Harding.
Sunday night’s episode started off with Nucky’s first forays into organized crime as he ventured to Chicago for the 1920 Republican National Convention where Nucky tries to convince Harding’s campaign manager to help in backing New Jersey Senator Walter East. Harding would go on and win the Presidency in the 1920 Presidential elections with Calvin Coolidge as his running mate.
